Statement of Purpose
Advocates for Justice (A4J) exists to fight for the rights of the poor and working people, to fight for racial justice and equal rights, and to assist those who organize these groups in order to advance the fight for equality. A4J aims to do research, publish educational and investigative materials, and organize lawyers across the country so as to provide pro bono and low fee legal representation to fulfill its purpose.
A4J will assist those fighting for environmental justice and occupational safety, immigration reform, the right to vote, fair elections, and the rights of those with disabilities. It will defend against employment, housing and education discrimination, the underpayment of wages, predatory banking, unfair foreclosure practices or inappropriate development. Also fundamental to A4J's mission is the protection of the right of people to organize and speak out about these issues, as well as many others.
A4J is a tax-exempt, not for profit organization recognized by the IRS under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All contributions to the organization are tax deductible.
